Ram It gets back to old-school puzzle game basics, pitting the player against two advancing, opposing rows of colorful bars. The object of the game is to beat every bar off the screen before the timer runs out, or before any of the bars block the player from part of the screen. This proves to be a nearly impossible task, but there's something compelling in Ram It's simplicity that begs for repeat play. There are other variations on the game, including "Bonus Bars" which can be hit for extra points -- but which can also wreak havoc on the opposite side of the screen. Each time a bar is hit, a musical note plays, and in faster sessions the sound may become more of a distraction. Colorful and addictive, Ram It is one of the exceedingly simple puzzle games that hasn't been revived lately -- but probably should be.
